Nehemiah Cotton, affectionately known as Neco, is a true embodiment of service. He earned his undergraduate degree from the esteemed Morehouse College, specializing in Psychology. Initially, he dedicated his work to addressing the pressing needs of social and case work.

With a profound understanding of homelessness, mental health, and addiction issues, Neco dedicated over a decade of his life to serving his community. This extensive experience led him to transition his career, becoming the voice of the voiceless and advocating for critical funding to support the communities he serves.

As a Development and Communications specialist, Neco actively participates in neighborhood-wide volunteer projects that have collectively raised hundreds of thousands of dollars in general operating funding. This funding sustains his mission of ensuring equitable access to essential resources for his community. Neco’s commitment to service extends beyond his professional endeavors, as he continues to be a man of service to the communities he has personally experienced.

“I am personally thrilled to be a member of the Board of Directors of the Be a Part of the Conversation organization. This role directly aligns with the community I come from. As a member, I believe that there is a solution to addiction, and that the collective efforts of our community can transform lives and heal the trauma many face due to this disease.

“One of the core principles of recovery is service, and I have been deeply impressed by the work that Be a Part of the Conversation is doing in our community to restore families, instill hope, and provide the necessary support to those struggling directly and indirectly with the disease of alcoholism and addiction. Serving on this board is not only an honor but also a personal duty.”
