Mariellen Paulus, CAADC, MS

Mariellen is the President and Executive Director of Danny’s House, which was created in memory of Daniel Brian Paulus who died of an overdose on 2/18/2016 at age 25 after years of fighting for his mental health and against drug addiction.

Inspired by her son Danny’s addiction and mental health struggles, Mariellen earned a masters degree and certification as an addiction counselor.  As a halfway house and outpatient counselor, she identified a need for subsidized recovery housing after treatment to create a much-needed bridge between treatment to self-sufficiency.  Mariellen founded Danny’s House to honor and remember Danny and his gentle, giving heart.

Danny’s House is a non-profit, licensed Recovery House dedicated to offering holistic support with dignity for women in recovery. Since opening their doors in May 2019, they have empowered more than 55 women to reclaim their lives from addiction. In 2023, they opened a second Danny’s House focusing on independence. Because of the intensive, wraparound recovery coaching and case management Danny’s House provides, 75% of the women who have completed their program are in recovery today.
